Can you climb this?

For our Inaugural Group Hike we will meet at the end of Frew Road in Huntingdon County and hike to Hunter Rock and through the Rocky Ridge Natural Area via the Standing Stone Trail.  At the choice of the group we can return to the cars by taking Dogwood Trail or Frew Road.  This is a gorgeous hike along Brush Mountain Ridge with non-stop views over the Standing Stone Creek watershed and Stone Creek Ridge.  If you’re a fan of bouldering or scrambling there will be lots of opportunities to test your skills.

Difficulty

The trek will start with a quick 200 ft climb to the ridge from the valley floor.  This is followed by a couple miles of mellow meanderings through the rocky outcrops along the ridge.

Preparation

Please arrive dressed for the weather.  Hike will not be cancelled due to inclement weather  Wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots and bring 1 – 2 liters of water and a snack or trail lunch.  If you have questions about gear, feel free to send me an email or ask via the comments below.

You can also check out the Outdoor Skills area of Wandering with Jeannie here.  You’ll find more information about what to take on a day hike and some gear reviews.
